SSSelf-Sacrificing Disposition (or SSS) (2023)
The Naive LoverboyThe intricate mosaic of tiles within the artwork mirrors the complexity of the human experience. Each tile, individually crafted with a blend of challenge and joy, embodies distinct characteristics contributing to the greater whole, much like individuals in society shaping our collective narrative. As I embarked on the creation of these tiles, I found solace in the meticulous process. It was a journey that demanded patience, precision, and a profound connection to each individual piece. Each tile bore its unique characteristics, In many ways, painting these tiles paralleled the complexities of our own lives, where our individuality coexists within the larger canvas of our shared existence. The central theme of self-sacrifice in the painting unveils a stark commentary on the treatment of femininity within our societal framework. Embracing one’s femininity, symbolized by the main figure, becomes a courageous act, akin to becoming a martyr under the pervasive shadow of patriarchy. The archetype of femininity, so often subjected to domination, here finds its voice in defiance. Delving deeper, the portrayal of femininity in the artwork delves into the profound depths of the human soul. It underscores the intricate interplay between masculinity and femininity, much like the eternal dance of yin and yang, internal and external. The feminine, residing in the realm of the internal, explores depths that elude masculine understanding. It is a journey through the enigmatic darkness, a narrative reminiscent of Eve and the serpent’s forbidden fruit—a tale of discovery and awakening. Ultimately, the painting reflects a profound connection to the innate desire of creation—a quintessentially feminine aspiration. It serves as a canvas for my own femininity, expressing the yearning to empower and construct a world where the strength of femininity is celebrated and revered.
